Is Oregon finally ready for real tax reform?

Rising costs for housing and especially health care are among the most notable demands on fixed incomes of seniors and retirees. Seniors are likely relying on social security income and public programs because some two-thirds have little or no retirement savings. Oregon’s population 65 years and older is expected to nearly double by 2030 placing more demands public services. Over the next three years a doubling of seniors needing assistance is expected to cost some $200-million. Tax reform means a better budget.
